Our Lakewood Studio
Our classes follow the DISD base calendar. However, students may be added at any time, based on availability.
Educational art parties for kids,
teens and adults in Dallas
Classes for 2026-2027 begin in August and end in May. We are closed Labor Day, the week of Thanksgiving, two weeks at Christmas and one week in March for spring break. We will be open other school holidays this year. Each student builds a portfolio of work to exhibit at our end of year show.
Class sizes are 16 students maximum and two teachers per class.
Tuition is prorated for 36 weeks and billed on the first of every month.

Preschool Art
Ages 4-5
Must be toilet independent
Through lessons that allow students to imagine, discover and experiment, our Preschool Art class focuses on cognitive development, fine motor skills, enhancing art language and literacy, and supporting social and emotional skills. The pre-school class promotes independence, verbal and non-verbal expressions of ideas and feelings, and supports the preschool aged child’s eagerness to learn. With an emphasis on the five senses, our preschool classes are an introduction to the art making process. A wide variety of mediums, processes, artists and tools are explored in preparation for elementary art, in a fun, age-appropriate setting.

Art I
Kinder-2nd grade
We require two years of Art I to advance to our higher level classes, or 3rd grade
Our art classes seek to spark creativity. We encourage students to make messes, try new things and become confident in their artistic endeavors. Through fun and engaging lessons, students work in a variety of mediums, including, pencil, ink, paint, oil pastels, clay, and textiles. We explore different art periods, artists and cultures. Students build on prior learning, and deepen their knowledge and understanding of art, all while discovering their own artistic and creative voice. Students will produce a portfolio of work that includes original designs, based on the lessons that we study.

Art II
2 years of Art I or 3rd-5th Grade
This class may be taken multiple times. Projects change each year.
Students in Art II, will be challenged to take their art making skills and self-expression to the next level. While building on the foundation of Art I, they will begin to meaningfully apply the elements of art, principles of design, and expressive qualities throughout the art making process. Students will develop and expand visual literacy skills using critical thinking, imagination, and the world around them. Through analyzing and studying art history, cultures and other artists, students will gain useful skills in critical evaluation and response to art. Creative careers and industries will be explored. Projects in both 2-D and 3-D will be created, using clay, fibers, paint, pencil and pastels, along with a variety of tools and other mediums.

Art III
5th grade and up or by invitation
Students in Art III, will be guided by experienced, advanced art teacher and working artist. Students will learn to identify, then illustrate ideas and create original artwork from direct observation, original sources, imagination and personal experiences. They will begin to understand and apply the expressive properties of artworks such as appropriation, meaning, narrative, message, and symbols using art vocabulary accurately. They will begin to apply the art-making process to solve problems and generate design solutions while applying their technical skills effectively, while using a variety of materials to produce artworks, including drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures/modeled forms, ceramics and fiber art.
Students will analyze the ways that global, cultural, historical, and political issues influence artworks. Students will learn and practice critical evaluation and response while analyzing original artworks. Student will learn to professionally respond to and analyzes artworks of self and others, contributing to the development of the lifelong skills of making informed judgments and reasoned evaluations.

Sculpture and 3-D Art
4th grade and up
In this hands-on class, students explore the exciting world of sculpture by turning their ideas into three-dimensional works of art. Young artists will learn how to build, shape, carve, and assemble sculptures while exploring form, texture, balance, and structure. Using a variety of materials such as clay, wire, cardboard, wood, fiber, and found objects, students will experiment with different techniques to bring their ideas to life. Each project encourages creativity, problem-solving, and imaginative thinking as students transform simple materials into expressive works of art.

Sewing and Fiber Arts
2 years of art I or 2nd-5th grade
This class may be taken multiple years. Projects change each year.
This class focuses on the creation of art through fibers. Students will create original works using both ancient and modern techniques in weaving, needle felting, embroidery, and quilting, through hand sewing and simple machine sewing. We’ll study famous fiber artists, like Navajo weaver Naomi Glasses, quilter Faith Ringgold and sculptor, Judith Scott. Students will create a variety of original works and gain a deeper understanding of the history and variety of art that is created through the lens of fibers.

Drawing & Graphic Design
3rd grade and up
This class may be taken multiple times. Projects change each year.
In this two-part class, students learn how traditional drawing skills connect to modern digital design. During the first semester, artists focus on building strong drawing foundations by learning how to sketch, shade, observe proportions, and develop their own creative style. They’ll practice drawing a variety of subjects while strengthening their confidence and visual thinking. Throughout the semester, students also explore visual storytelling throughout history and learn how artists have used images to communicate ideas, emotions, and stories across different cultures and time periods.
In the second semester, students transition from paper to screen and learn the basics of digital graphic design. Using simple design tools, they’ll turn their drawings and ideas into digital artwork while learning about layout, typography, color, and visual communication. By the end of the year, students will understand how artists and designers use both hand drawing and technology to create illustrations, logos, and digital graphics.

AI Art & Filmmaking
3rd grade and up
This class may be taken multiple times. Projects change each year.
Students become creators using the newest tools in art and storytelling. Kids will learn how to use artificial intelligence to generate original artwork, design characters and worlds, write short scripts, and turn their ideas into mini films. Along the way they’ll explore visual storytelling, creativity, and how artists can collaborate with technology.
Learning how to use AI creatively is an important skill for the future. Just like learning to draw, code, or design, understanding AI helps students think critically about technology while using it as a powerful tool for imagination and innovation. In this class, students won’t just consume technology — they’ll learn how to direct it, shape it, and turn their ideas into art and films.

Architecture and Interior Design
3rd grade and up (no exceptions)
Limited to 10 students
This class is designed for aspiring designers and architects. Throughout history, from the Egyptians to modern day skyscrapers, architects and designers have influenced how we live and work. In this class, through artistic projects and materials, we'll explore how these masterpieces are built and why. Then, we'll use our imaginations to design and build a model and a vision board, for our own dream houses of the future.

Crochet Beginner
3rd grade and up
This is a small group class that focuses on individual progress. May be taken multiple years.
In this beginner-friendly class, students learn the fundamentals of crochet while creating fun and useful projects. Young makers will learn how to hold a crochet hook, work with yarn, and master basic stitches such as the chain, single crochet, and double crochet. As their skills grow, students will create simple projects like small accessories, decorative pieces, and beginner-friendly wearable items. This class focuses on building confidence, patience, and creativity while introducing students to the relaxing and rewarding craft of crochet.

Crochet Advanced
3rd grade and up
This is a small group class that focuses on individual progress. May be taken multiple years.
Designed for students who already know the basics, this class helps young fiber artists expand their crochet skills and tackle more detailed projects. Students will learn new stitches, read patterns, shape their work, and experiment with color, texture, and more advanced techniques. Projects may include hats, bags, amigurumi (crocheted characters), and other creative designs. This class encourages independence and craftsmanship while allowing students to bring their own creative ideas to life through fiber art.

Lego Robotics
1st-5th grade
This is a small group class that focuses on individual progress. May be taken multiple years.
Students will learn essential STEAM and 21st Century skills needed to become the innovative minds of tomorrow through building and coding lessons using the LEGO Education Spike System and intuitive drag and drop coding language, based on Scratch coding. Fun and engaging lessons lead students through playful activities to think critically and solve complex problems, regardless of their learning level. Students design and build, then code to make their creations come to life.
